I
f your New Year's resolution to get
yourself in golf shape isn't quite work-
ing out, don't fret. Golf physicals are now
available year-round at Monarch Beach.
The two-hour assessment was initially
offered on a trial basis last year.
It's been so popular, says PGA
General Manager Eric
Lohman, the program has
been extended indefinitely.
The "exam" assesses a golfer's
playing abilities, goals, physicality
and mental approach and offers playing
instruction and follow-up suggestions.
"This is for someone who wants to
know where they really are in relation to
the state of their game," says Lohman
"The golf physical is designed to give
honest feedback about all aspects of the
student's golf game and approach."
The cost for the golf
physical is $199 and
includes a round
of golf after the
evaluation.
T
he worst thing about playing golf?
Slow play. One of the best things about
playing golf at Monarch Beach from
sunrise to 9 a.m.? Express Lane Tee Times.
Introduced as an incentive for golfers look-
ing to complete their rounds in less then four
hours, the new fast-play program is
geared toward golfers who
don't like to dawdle.
Here's how it works: Golfers
sign a pledge agreeing to play in
4 hours or less, with the staff at Monarch
Beach reserving the right to make groups
skip holes or move to another
course if they're not maintain-
ing the proper pace.
"We realize slow play is
one of the game's biggest de-
terrents," says PGA General
Manager Eric Lohman. "And
this new initiative is one of the
ways we're working to change that."
