Here's a look at the three programs and some of the highlights: DRIvE, CHIP & PuTT CAMPS If you watched this year's Masters, then you probably saw some of the young, cheery faces of kids from around the country who competed in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National. There are local qualifiers scheduled throughout Southern California for next year's championship, but the camps at Monarch Beach are the only known schools that focus exclusively on improving those skills, and include simulated competitions. "Each time juniors go through a session they can see their numbers improve," Director of Instruction Seth Glasco said. "It gives them a chance to see where they stand." The camps are $400 for juniors ages 7-17, and also include video analysis, equipment assessment, mental toughness training, cus- tom training aids, a Puma shirt and hat, and a one-hour private follow-up lesson. RICKIE FOwlER DRIvIng SCHOOl These five-day camps run two hours per day, and focus strictly on hitting the driver — but there's a Rickie Fowler touch. As part of the school, participants ages 12- 17 receive an orange custom-built Cobra Bio Cell driver with an orange grip and headcover to go with their orange shirt and hat. Entry is $699 per student. TEE-gOlF CAMP This is a fun camp that serves as an introduction to the game. Kids ages 5-8 use SNAG equipment (Starting New At Golf), which includes oversized plastic clubs with large club heads and tennis ball-sized golf balls. Kids participate in games and activities that — with the help of PGA professionals — help them learn the basics. "We want to get the kids to fall in love with golf," Glasco said. "Just get them swinging at a golf ball and watching it fly." The camps run two-and-a-half hours a day Monday-Friday, and there are morning and afternoon sessions available in July and Au- gust. Each camp is $285 per child. HEy, KIDS! Monarch Beach offers special golf camps and instruction for junior players BONUS! CLICK HERE FOR MBGL JUNIOR GOLF SUMMER CAMP!
