ost golf instructors will tell
you the key to scoring is your
short game. But these days,
golfers just want to hit the ball far —
especially off the tee.
So, Director of Instruction Seth
Glasco decided to give golf students
what they want, and launched the
Cobra Driving School at Monarch
Beach Golf Links.
"We live in a power era,"
says Glasco. "Everybody's
got to hit it 300 yards."
But don't expect to go
through a major swing
change. The Cobra Driv-
ing School takes a "gen-
tle" approach to teaching,
according to Glasco, and matches golfers
with the club and shaft for the swing
they already have.
Then, students are taught to aim the
club face correctly, which results in bet-
ter impact and ball flight.
During a typical one-day school, stu-
dents will have their swing analyzed
and videotaped, and will then be taken
through the fitting process to find a
driver that suits their needs — as well
as being fully outfitted by Cobra Puma.
In the end, students receive a cus-
tom-fit, custom-built Cobra Bio Cell
driver in the color of their choice.
With the help of optic decals by True
Aim, students are better able to align
the club face and improve their dis-
tance and accuracy.
"We don't do anything but hit driv-
ers," Glasco said. "We hit over 100
drives, so students are 100 shots more
comfortable standing on the tee looking
down the fairway."
