f you're not familiar with the concept of
Mindful Golf, you're not alone. The
practice is a new offering at Monarch
Beach Resort and blends the benefits of
the award-winning Miraval Life in Bal-
ance Spa with the beauty and serenity of
Monarch Beach Golf Links.
The program features Mindful Miraval
Caddies and Mindful Performance En-
hancement for Golfers, and aims to help
golfers overcome mental letdowns,
achieve their potential, get more out of
their games and above all, stay in the mo-
ment. The end goal is the improved well-
being of each participant.
MacKenzie MacDonald, the Assistant
Director of Spa, Programming and Fitness
at the Miraval Life in Balance Spa, said
the program is unique to Monarch Beach
Resort and was developed by the resort's
mindfulness experts to enhance guests' ex-
perience and allow them to take advan-
tage of all that Monarch Beach has to offer.
"Our mission is to inspire and encour-
age self-discovery and life balance through
the practice of being mindful," MacDonald
said. "Our stunning golf course is the per-
fect place to teach the benefits appreciating
the present moment. It was a natural fit to
expand Miraval into this area."
Golfers who take Miraval Mindful Cad-
dies prepare for their round with an inten-
tion setting and mindful focus session that
allows them to fully enjoy the golf experi-
ence without outside distraction and
stress. The caddies then rejoin you on the
course for a mindful gratitude session that
will connect you to the incredible ocean
setting and ensure peak performance.
Those who register for Mindful Per-
formance Enhancement for Golfers will
work with mindfulness expert and physi-
cal therapist Amy Noelle to set goals and
intentions for their game as well as to de-
construct the mental barriers that prevent
us from reaching peak performance.
Since Mindful Golf debuted in Septem-
ber, guests who have tried the program
have come out of it wanting to dig deeper
into mindfulness and have returned to the
spa for longer sessions and courses.
"The benefits of mindfulness on physi-
cal and mental health and wellness are
staggering," MacDonald explained. "We
think it is important to meet people where
they are and introduce them to mindful-
ness while they are doing something they
love so they can follow their curiosity and
see how it can enhance their lives overall.
Mindfulness can ease the stresses that hold
you back on the golf course, and can give
you more pure enjoyment through non-
striving. It can also allow you to discon-
nect from your everyday stresses and
obligations while allowing you to access
the joy of your favorite activity."
